Kulen, sister and the entire family

You will understand that the cured meat delicacies of Slavonia and Baranja are not just rural fast food for "your taste buds", as soon as you taste them (or read our articles about them). Although you won't find a top "meza" at every turn, throughout the Osijek-Baranja County there are more and more estates and restaurants that, in a beautiful rustic setting, present the best of the centuries-old "cured meat" tradition of this region.

From Našice and Donji Miholjec in the west, through Đakovo in the south, Erdut in the east, Baranja in the north and Osijek in the heart of the county, Slavonian-Baranja cured meats are an integral part of the offer of regional restaurants. Its variations on the theme, from classic to contemporary, from the basic ones based on kulen to more diverse ones in which kulen is accompanied by cutlets, sausages, bacon, cracklings and other relatives, you will find e.g. in "Ribnjak" and "Bricks" in Našice, "Park" in Valpovo, "Stari Mlin" in Dalj, "Gradski podrum" in Đakovo, "Loori" and "Kuća dida Tunje", "Kod Baranjac" in Osijek and the old town taverns "Kod Ruže" and "Slavonska kuća". The Osijek restaurants "Waldinger", "Zimska luka" and "Lumiere" will offer you cured meats combined with cosmopolitan cuisine. Then comes Baranja - and in this type of offer, it is unsurpassed.

Because apart from the menus of "Baranjska kuća", "Josić", "Darócza", "Čingi lingi" čarda, hotel "Lug" and other delicious locations in Baranja, you will also taste kulen and the company here at several renowned family farms or in specialized tasting rooms, for example at OPG Dobrovac in Kneževi Vinogradi, OPG Matijević in Suza or in the House of Baranje Kulen in Branjin Vrh. In search of top-quality cured meat products, you should not miss the famous Winter Fair and Čvarakfest held in Karanac at the end of November, or, if you're up for traditional gastronomic festivities in an "unprocessed" form, the June Kulenijada in Jagodnjak, also known as the "village of kulen". Not too far away, just on the other side, on the Slavonian side of the Drava, in the village of Gat near Valpova, first-class kulen and dried meat products are also produced by OPG Novosel.
