“Čiča” makes brandy
Although it is easily possible that it was intended to caricature the Slavonians of that time, German travel writers in the 18th century, they often state that in southern Pannonia, the population truly diligently cares only for their plum trees. He regularly fertilizes them, prunes them and protects them from frost, all so that in the fall the plums are rewarded with an abundance of fruit. Of course, jam and sweets were not made from it - that custom arrived later - but its intoxicating majesty brandy.
The tradition of baking it is one of the leitmotifs of autumn on Slavonia-Baranja country estates, both in the past and today. Next to the cauldron of brandy, in the fragrant swirl of boiled overheated plums and smoke spreading from the fireplace or through an improvised tin chimney, the soul of the plain will appear to you. Encouraged by a warm and hearty distillate, you will instantly grasp the meaning of life as the Pannonians see it - a life whose beauty springs from the harmony of man and nature, which has no illusion that it is eternal, and does not postpone the enjoyment of small things and worldly charms for tomorrow.

Trying to bring this philosophy closer to the widest possible circle of visitors and admirers of the drink that means life (in the Middle Ages, brandy was called the "water of life"), several top producers of domestic brandies and liqueurs operate in our county. Meet them here!
