THERE’S SOMETHING FOR EVERYONE: It’s raining, now what?

Pick up your umbrella and head for a walk along the river to witness the dance of raindrops on its surface. If, on the other hand, you are not the type who likes to dance in the rain, let alone sing like Gene Kelly in the Hollywood classic, don't worry – we’ve got your back.

The long and colorful history of Slavonia and Baranja has left many traces and has always been a source of inspiration. Its many museums, exhibitions, and collections bear witness to centuries of history. You can study it all, from prehistoric times to the industrial heritage of this region in the Belišće Museum, or head to the Valpovština Museum and discover a surprisingly rich collection preserved in the medieval-baroque complex of Valpovo castle. The newly renovated Local History Museum of Našice is located in the protected park of the Pejačević castle, preserving valuable historical and art collections.

To find out all about the area, the traditional way of life, or the many changes and turbulences that have taken place, head to one of Osijek's museums. With its 400,000 exhibits carefully arranged and arranged by collection, the Museum of Slavonia and the nearby Archaeological Museum reveal the history of the region. Both can be found in Tvrđa, the Baroque part of the city of Osijek. If you are more artistically inclined or simply like beautiful things, visit the Museum of Fine Arts in Osijek, one of the city's galleries, or the unique Gloria Maris Museum of Shells and Aquatic Life.

Stories about life, tradition, nature and hunting are best told in Baranja. Visit the Tikveš Castle, Šokačka Kuća or the Ethnological Heritage Center Baranja and discover the old ways of life in the quiet rural areas of this beautiful country.

Should you find yourself in Đakovo, the Museum of Đakovo with its ethnological, cultural- historical and archaeological collection will teach you all you need to know. So will the museum dedicated to one of the most important people of this area, Bishop J. J. Strossmayer. Đakovo is known for its religious heritage, primarily the magnificent cathedral. In addition to that, fans of religious art will find their place in the co-cathedral in Osijek, as well as in the church in Našice, or one of the other local churches for their own unique stories.

If you are looking to keep the whole family entertained, rainy days are perfect for bowling, escape rooms, laser tag or go-karting. Shopping in Osijek Mall or Portanova could do it for adults while the little ones can enjoy one of the mall playrooms. The kids will also be delighted by Osijek's Astrogarden, a modern 400-square-meter playroom that has everything - from trampolines to virtual reality. If you still feel the need to move, head to the pools or try something like indoor bouldering, yoga, or dancing.

And for a truly local experience, look for the ceramics workshop Asztalos in the Baranja village of Suza. Try your hand at the potter's wheel and create a unique item inspired by tradition, all in the magical ambiance of a centuries-old mill.
