Get to know the beaches of Slavonia and Baranje

Many hidden tourist pearls of Slavonia and Baranja are slowly being discovered. There are more and more guests eager to get to know the still somewhat wild and untamed nature, which, especially during the summer heat, is dominated by the Danube and the Drava.
The Drava is the fastest river in central and eastern Croatia, whose attractiveness you can feel lying in the shallows on one of the many sandy beaches, relaxing and letting the fast Drava massage you. River meanders and sand islands are especially interesting, of which there are about a dozen on the Drava, depending on the water level. The specialty of this river is sand islands, most of which are located between Gat and Petrijevci. Opposite one of them is Bistrinačka plaža, considered by many to be the most beautiful sandy beach in Drava. In addition to attractive sandbanks, this beach also offers an attractive event on the first weekend in July - Bistrigin, the championship of Pannonia in picigin, which has been played on numerous Slavonian and Baranja river beaches for decades.
A holiday on the continent can be a real treat even on the hottest days of the year, because sightseeing cultural heritage, enjoying the magical Kopački Rit or wine cellars can always be completed with a boat ride or swimming in the Drava, Danube or the numerous lakes of Slavonia and Baranja. The sandy island near Gat, the Drava beaches in Nard or Nehaj, Kopika in Osijek and a number of Drava beaches near Osijek, as well as the lakes Borovik near Đakovo, Lapovac near Našice and Đola in Darda are increasingly popular destinations for tourists, and not only local population.
The Living Danube near Batina and Zeleni otok are full of tourists in the summer, but the most attractive beach in Baranja is the 10-kilometer-long beach in Draž on Dunavac. It was recently renovated and today offers visitors a beautiful promenade, volleyball courts, smart showers, sanitary facilities and a restaurant.
On all river beaches as well as in lakes, swimming is at your own risk, but the long sandy shores and islands that even the youngest visitors can reach in the summer months by walking in the shallows are quite enough for a real summer refreshment.
