Try something new! Even more enjoyment in the Croatia’s East…
Slavonia and Baranja offer a wide range of engaging activities. Make your stay even more enjoyable by checking out our top picks.
Explore the Viewpoints
The misconception that this region is flat and monotonous can be dispelled by visiting its viewpoints. In Baranja, we recommend visiting the "Belje" wine road's lookout point or the Batina Monument, which serves as a reminder of the area's largest Second World War battle. At the Batina Monument, you can enjoy a wonderful and lush view of the Croatia-Hungary- Serbia border. In the wine-producing surroundings of Đakovo, be sure to visit the viewpoints of Trnava and Mandićevac. In Feričanci, it's worth visiting the "Goveđa glava" site. From the Erdut wineries, especially "Brzica" and "Magistra," you can enjoy a view of the Danube meandering through lush, green forests. Not far from there is the impressive medieval Erdut tower, which offers a mighty view.

Visit the Opus Arena
The Opus Arena, the most modern stadium in Croatia and the only fully covered stadium, opened a year ago. Group tours require a minimum of 10 people, while the restaurant can accommodate smaller groups with prior notice. Cafe-bar Pampas and Fan shop are open every day from 8 a.m. to 9 p.m. (Fan shop 9 a.m. to 8 p.m.), on Sundays from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. (Fan shop until 1 p.m.).
Dine with tamburitza players
Tamburitza music is an indispensable sound of rural restaurants with traditional food. It is quite an experience when tambura players play live, next to your ear, while you (hopefully) dine in good company. Tamburitza players are ready to impress on Fridays and Saturdays in Baranja’s restaurants "Didin konak", "Baranjska kuća" and "Citadela" and in Erdut restaurant „Stari mlin“.

Give horse-riding a go
If you're an animal lover but haven't had the time or courage to try horseback riding, there are several options available. KK "Hercules" Vardarac, Pansion "Capistro" and Center "Emanuel" in Bilje, "Ibolda" Podolje, "Ivica i Marica" in Karanac, Ecocenter "Zlatna Greda", Association "Mogu" Osijek and "Equijoy" in Đakovo are just some of the locations where you can take your first riding steps.

Have coffee in nature
Savouring a cup of coffee or a glass of wine in a natural setting is a unique experience. In Osijek, you can find cafes on the sandy beach "Copacabana," with "Bajta" open all year round. In Kopački rit nature park, visit the cafe bar "Lopoč" next to the nature park’s reception center for a relaxing experience surrounded by reeds and sedges. A similar ambiance awaits you at MlinarT Cafe in Suza, located next to the Astaloš Ceramic Workshop. The beach in Draž is home to the "Piki beach bar", reminiscent of the tropics with its decoration and ambiance. Next to the Batina Monument, find the (appropriately named) cafe bar "Panorama". The biggest advantage of this cafe is the fantastic view, and so are the homemade cakes and pies. Another café that offers food is "Camp Borovik" located on the lake of the same name not far from Đakovo.

Listen to classical music in a park
For the last five years, in the wonderful park of the Prandau-Mailath castle in Donji Miholjac, visitors can enjoy the Prandau festival of organ and chamber music. The youngest Slavonian castle (1906) looks like a portal to Wonderland. The festival brings sounds of classical music to its park from May to September. It is equally enjoyed by visitors as well as the flora and fauna.
Bait and hook
Rivers, lakes, and ponds are rich in carp, perch, pike, and catfish. Fishermen most often fish on the Drava and the Danube. The largest ponds are located near Donji Miholjec and Našice, and the locals’ favourite places for fishing are Borovik and Jošava lakes in the vicinity of Đakovo, Našice's Lapovac and the former Baranja river branches - Stari Dunav near Draž and Stara Drava near Bilje.
