The K and K Duo of Baranja: Kopačevo & Karanac, Lovely Covers for Stories Woven over Centuries
There are places where reason gives way to feelings, where each daily scene is a story woven over centuries, and where people effortlessly tell these stories in the most special ways. Such is the K and K duo of Baranja - the villages of Kopačevo and Karanac.
Surrounded by the natural beauty of Kopački Rit, Kopačevo is a story in itself. Traditional flowerbeds, luxurious vegetable gardens and the signature wreaths of red peppers are some of the representative photo models of the village.

The old Calvinist church silently preserves memories of a time when this was true of Kopačevo: "This is the centre of the world - and if you don't believe it, just look!" The old saying lives on, given that this is one of the most popular destinations in Baranja, and places such as the restaurant Didin Konak, Family Camp, as well as a number of family farms take in visitors from all over the world.

A very similar atmosphere is present at another champion, and possibly the pioneer of tourism in Baranja, Karanac. The village at the foot of the southwestern slopes of Bansko hill preserves the best of old Baranja. The tranquillity of its wide streets, the sleepy colourful one-story houses and lovely estates of the warm-hearted hosts make it one of the most fascinating traditional villages in Croatia. At least so say its many visitors, and one thing is for sure - it’s one of the liveliest places.

We can’t imagine a dull moment if you visit, say, Baranjska Kuća, the famous traditional restaurant where the Street of Forgotten Time is tucked away in the courtyard. And a series of colourful events throughout the year makes it stand out that bit more. The Spring Fair, you guessed it, takes place in the spring, but there is also the summer Mud Academy, as well as the endlessly entertaining Čvarakfest in early winter.
