Come spring and nature awakens, the green forests and colourful fields call us to wake up from hibernation, leave the house and venture outdoors. In this segment, too, Slavonia and Baranja have more and more to offer to those who like exploring on two wheels. Pump up your tires, oil the chain and discover the trails we have prepared. Whether you prefer to wander around the steep mountain slopes or road cycling, be that in the company of friends or you want to take your family for a loop around the rural house you’re staying at, there is a trail for everyone. You can find more than 30 suggestions on cycling trails (ver 700 kilometres) on this link www.visitslavoniabaranja.com/outdoors/bike, so we suggest you don’t bother with the rest of this article, but HeadOnBike!

Cyclotourist Routes
The suggested circular cycling routes cover all the main attractions. If you’re staying in Osijek, we invite you to cycle to the Kopački Rit Nature Park, maybe towards the Bizovac thermal spa, detox in the forests by the Drava or cycle along the route of the great military leaders, i.e. the castles in Darda and Bilje. If you’re staying in Karanac, be sure to head to the Belje vineyards to cycle along one of the most beautiful wine roads in Croatia or the loess plateau towards the Kneževi Vinogradi swimming pools. Not far from there, you’ll find the route through the biggest town of Baranja, leading to another pool complex, the one in Beli Manastir. And why would you wander through the wine cellars of Zmajevac on foot when you can cycle them? Of course, we do not recommend drinking and cycling, except at the end of the route - which is always at one of the cellars. Animal lovers can look for wild life on the Game Routes, check out the Batina Monument or explore the wilderness of Zlatna Greda and Tikveš in the forests by the Danube. Though it may not be suitable for swimming, the Šokačkim Vezom path leads towards the Draž beach, which boasts about the most beautiful sunset in Baranja.

Stress Relief Therapy
All fans of mountain biking will enjoy the trails ascending 1,000 metres on the Baranjskim Surducima i Krndija trail (Through the Gorges of Baranja and Krndija). So don’t tell us it’s all flat in Slavonia and Baranja. In the Našice region, the easiest route is the one from the centre of Našice towards Lapovac, and wine lovers can cycle off to the famous Feričanci location and restaurant Goveđa Glava(opening planned in early summer 2025). In Đakovo, head from the cathedral via Jošava to Ivandvor or to the shrine of Dragotin. If you like cycling through the forest, be sure to do so from Drenje to Borovik lake or take the Krndija and Dilj (Levanjska Varoš) trail, which will help dispel your preconceived notions about Slavonia as a flatland. You can pass through the largest vineyard in Croatia, that of Erdut, measuring 550 hectares, following any of the three Erdut trails: Erdut Wine Peninsula (45 km), Planina i Ravnjak (15 km) and Small Wine Circuit (7 km).
The newest trails have been established in the area of Belišće, Valpovo, Donji Miholjec and Bizovac, and we’re inviting you to discover them all and enjoy cycling along the Drava and Karašica rivers, through the green forests and colourful fields or ponds with thousands of birds. In conclusion, the region of Slavonia and Baranja is the new hit cycling destination. It's up to you to make the wheels turn and get your dose of anti-stress therapy.
