This year’s Wine Marathon will be held on September 25 and 26, 2026 in Zmajevac, Baranja.

Wine Marathon, or locally also known as “Vinski maraton” in Croatian and in Hungarian as “Bor Marathon”, is one of the most popular wine-entertainment events in Croatia, offering a rich program – creative workshops, fairs, performances by cultural organizations from Croatia and other countries, concerts, exhibitions, plays, competitions and wine evaluations, as well as a rich gastronomic offer accompanied by quality wines.

Wine Marathon is a unique wine event where competitors (marathoners) use a wine list to find Zmajevac cellars, taste and evaluate wines from local winemakers. The winner of the marathon is the first to visit all the cellars and reach the marked finish line.

The main goal of the event is the preservation of cultural heritage, namely the “Surduk” wine streets (Catholic and Reformed Surduk) in which traditional wine cellars – “Gator” are located, their promotion, and introducing tourists to the enology, gastronomy and customs of the people of Baranja, in the past and now.
