Then why wait &#8211; just ten kilometers from Osijek, in the extreme southeast of Baranja, there is a green oasis of the Kopa\u010dki rit Nature Park, the oldest in Croatia (1976). Flooded forests, wet grasslands, river backwaters, meanders and banks make up a magical area of one of the last untouched European wetlands.<\/p>\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/visitslavoniabaranja.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/01\/Kopa%C4%8Dki-rit-Mario-Romuli%C4%87.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-3514\"\/><\/figure>\n\n<p>Kopa\u010dki rit shaped the Danube and, to a lesser extent, the Drava. The movement of the river water level determines the rhythm of life in Rit. For the visitor eager for discovery and excitement, this means that at any time of the year he will be greeted by special sights in his own way: blooming plants, sunken treetops, deer roaring, thousands of birds led by the buzzard eagle and its two and a half meter wide wings&#8230; It should not be surprising that, apart from nature lovers, Kopa\u010dki rit is also a dream destination for all photography lovers.<\/p>\n\n<p><em>The area of Rita is the largest breeding ground and fish hatchery in the Danube Region, and consequently a very important ornithological reserve (fish is the number 1 specialty for many birds). About 140 species of birds nest here every year, and many stop here to rest during seasonal intercontinental migrations. Obviously, they also know that it is good to rest in the east!<\/em><\/p>\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/visitslavoniabaranja.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/01\/Kopa%C4%8Dki-rit-Sa%C5%A1a-Pjani%C4%87.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-3507\"\/><\/figure>\n\n<p>You can explore Kopa\u010dki rit more deeply by participating in numerous educational programs, enjoying canoeing, bird watching, photo safaris, and listening to the roar of deer. It is also possible to rent boats and bicycles, as well as recreational fishing in the designated areas. Touring Rit by water, with expert guidance, is a treat not to be missed. The visitor experience is further deepened by the offer of the Tikve\u0161 presentation and education center (with the fact that Sophia Loren is not currently on the list of guides).<\/p>\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/visitslavoniabaranja.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/01\/Kopa%C4%8Dki-rit-Vjeran-Vidakovi%C4%87.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-3508\"\/><\/figure>\n\n<p><em>In the immediate vicinity of the Nature Park, since 2006. is held every August <\/em>Slama land art festival<em>. Gathered under a clear sky, artists from thousands of bales of straw create sculptures intended to enhance the public spaces of the cities of Slavonia-Baranja, thereby contributing to the connection of art, heritage and the principles of sustainable development.<\/em><\/p>\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/visitslavoniabaranja.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/01\/Eko-centar-Zlatna-Greda-Filip-Beusan.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-3519\"\/><\/figure>\n\n<p>Eco-center Zlatna Greda is located next to the northern part of Rit. Their House in nature is the former administrative building of one of the wastelands of Baranja, production and agricultural complexes built during the 19th century (remember the story of the successful Belj manor). Zlatna greda offers visitors a number of activities: <em>team building<\/em>, horse riding, cycling, bird and animal watching, rowing. There is also an adrenaline park, the first in eastern Croatia, and a very interesting school in nature, dedicated to the topics of biodiversity, ecology and sustainable development.<\/p>\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/visitslavoniabaranja.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/01\/Memorijalni-kompleks-Batinska-bitka-Zvonimir-Jankovi%C4%87.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-3509\"\/><\/figure>\n\n<p><em>Where the Danube enters Croatia, in Batina, there is a monument to the largest battle of the Second World War in this region. The stories of local peasants say that the Danube was red in those days.
