Visit the historical region of Baranja, which Croatia “shares” with Hungary. Kopa\u010dki rit Nature Park is located only ten kilometers from Osijek in the municipality of Bilje. This so-called you can tour the intra-continental delta of the Drava and the Danube on foot, by boat or by boat, exploring canals and forests full of wildlife. The park is especially famous for almost 300 species of birds.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The word “Baranja” itself consists of two Hungarian words “bor” and “anya” meaning “wine mother”. This is exactly why we recommend that you visit the largest wine cellar in Croatia, that of the Belje winery in Kne\u017eevi Vinogradi, built way back in 1526.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In the villages of Zmajevac and Suza, do not miss the so-called Surduk, wine streets lined with traditional wine cellars “Gators” that resemble houses from a fairy tale, and in the nearby village of Karanac, visit one of the rural households and rest.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Continue your journey towards the north of the region and visit the extreme northeastern “tip of Croatia” and the village of Batina in the municipality of Dra\u017e. From the vantage point above the Danube and the monument to those who died in the Second World War, you will see three countries: Croatia, Serbia and Hungary, and downstream of the Danube, your view will fall exactly on the center of its course through Europe.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The continuation of the road to Baranja will bring you to the administrative center of the region, the small town of Beli Manastir. There, visit the Tourist Information Center and the Ethnological Center of Baranja Heritage, where you can learn more about the history of Baranja, as well as tourist information that will be useful during your visit.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
